நம்மையே நேசிப்பது மற்றவர்களுடைய ஒப்புதலும் மற்றவர்கள் நம்மை விரும்புதலும் நமக்கு ஒரு சுகமான உணர்ச்சியை தருகிறது. ஆனால் சந்தோஷமான வாழ்க்கைக்கு இவை கட்டாயமும் இல்லை, இன்றியமையாதவையும் இல்லை. பிறத்தியார் நம்மை அங்கீகரித்தாலும், அங்கீகரிக்காவிட்டாலும், அதனால் நாம் குறைவதும் இல்லை, மேம்படுவதும் இல்லை. முக்கியமானது என்னவென்றால், நாம் நம்மையே நேசிப்பதும் அங்கீகரிப்பதும் தான். இதை நாம் சாதித்து விட்டால், மற்றவர்களுடைய ஒப்புதலுக்காக நாம் அவதிப் பட வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை.
